The 2:13 Devotional

Your Primary Business
I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
1 Timothy 2:1-4
Note the scope and depth of this undertaking.
He uses the word “all” several times, teaching us that there is a great deal to pray about.
It also teaches us that God does not want a half-hearted effort from His people. For men to be saved, we need to be about a godly and honest life. For that to happen, we need to pray continually for those in authority.
This is just one of many passages that tells us that prayer gets things done, and is to be our primary business.
