“The King’s Beautiful Church”
Sunday Morning Service 08/04/24-Senior Pastor Terry Fischer
“God wants to show off the beauty of his church today. He wants to show off our beauty to the world.” Terry Fischer
This sermon uses the biblical story of Queen Vashti and Esther to illustrate two types of churches: Vashti representing a disobedient, self-willed church, and Esther symbolizing a beautiful, submissive, obedient church. Pastor Terry emphasizes that God wants to showcase the inner beauty of His church to the world. Three key qualities are identified for a beautiful church: an obedient heart, a submissive heart, and a dependent heart. The sermon stresses the importance of submission to God, church leaders, elders, and in marital relationships, while clarifying that submission doesn’t imply inferiority. It also highlights that grace doesn’t negate obedience but rather enables it. Pastor Terry underscores the crucial role of dependence on the Holy Spirit for believers to be spiritually beautified for God. Throughout the sermon, the congregation is encouraged to examine their hearts regarding obedience, submission, and dependence on God, with the ultimate goal of pleasing Him and becoming a beautiful bride for Christ, much like Esther pleased King Ahasuerus.
