Wait…whatever I want? The desires of my heart? Does God know what He’s doing here?

 

He knows exactly what He’s doing. When we delight in Him, when we allow His Word to move from our head to our heart, something wonderful happens. The Holy Spirit uses the Word to change our hearts, to make it more pliable in His hands (see the Hebrew word for “delight”).

 

Then our hearts, our desires, our thinking, become aligned with God’s. We begin to want what He wants. And we start to pray that way. Then God, seeing us pray according to His will, grants our petition.

 

It’s a brilliant plan. God gets a changed heart, and we get to see Him work mightily in our lives. Are you in?
