“Don’t Let it Burst”

Sunday Morning Service 08/18/2024-Senior Pastor Terry Fischer

“When you discipline yourself to seek God to read his word and pray you will have more times of desire and zealousness.”

Pastor Terry’s sermon discusses the parable of new wine in old wineskins, using it as a metaphor for the transition from the Old Covenant to the New Covenant and the expansion of God’s Kingdom. Pastor explains that the wine represents the Kingdom of God, while the wineskins symbolize how people handle and respond to it. He contrasts the old wine (Old Testament law) with the new wine (Jesus’ fulfillment of the law and the New Covenant). The sermon emphasizes the need for believers to be “new wineskins” that can expand with the “new wine” of God’s Kingdom. Pastor Terry identifies six factors that can constrain this expansion: tradition, fear, unbelief, cares of life, unwillingness, and lack of desire. He encourages the congregation to overcome these constraints through obedience, faith, and seeking the baptism of the Holy Spirit. The sermon concludes by highlighting the importance of zeal and the power that comes from being filled with the Spirit, enabling believers to effectively witness and expand God’s Kingdom.
