“Covenants of Compromise”

Sunday Morning Service 01/11/2026-Associate Pastor Tyler Bessa

“Spiritual blindness doesn’t happen all at once—it happens gradually, until you adjust to not seeing clearly anymore.”

Sermon Summary: Covenants of Compromise

Are you experiencing spiritual coldness, repeated failure, lack of depth, or a loss of desire for the Lord?

Ask the Holy Spirit to search your heart. Identify any covenant of compromise, whether with sin, unforgiveness, ambition, relationships, comfort, or distraction, and bring it to Christ. Confess it. Lay it down. Reject shame. Fix your eyes fully on Jesus.

The fire can burn again.
The chains can fall again.
Clarity, freedom, and joy can be restored.

Do not leave this message untouched. Respond to what God is stirring in your heart today.

In Covenants of Compromise, we are confronted with a sobering truth. Believers can unknowingly form binding agreements with sin, the flesh, the world, or misplaced affections. These agreements slowly dull spiritual vision and weaken devotion to Christ.

Using 1 Samuel 11 as a foundation, the message shows how Israel’s willingness to covenant with Nahash led to blindness and reproach. In the same way, when Christians tolerate compromise, spiritual clarity fades gradually, depth is lost, and shame often returns, even after genuine salvation.

This sermon explores how misplaced loves create spiritual blind spots, hinder growth in grace, stir sinful appetites, and rob believers of joy, freedom, and discernment. Yet the message is ultimately one of hope. Because of the covenant made between the Father and the Son, every covenant of compromise can be broken again through repentance, humility, and renewed surrender to Christ.

The call is clear. Lay aside every weight. Reject shame. Forgive freely. Fix your eyes fully on Jesus, and allow the Holy Spirit to rekindle passion, clarity, and holiness.
