“For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens; ²⁷Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people’s: for this he did once, when he offered up himself.” Hebrews 7:26-27

According to the law of the Levitical priesthood, the priest was to offer a lamb first for his sins and then for the sins of the people. Not so with Jesus; First of all He needed not a sacrifice for His sins because He had no sin. Second, He did not offer a lamb, He offered Himself. Jesus set the example. God is not fooled if you try to offer Him something other than yourself.
