The 2:13 Devotional
By: Elder Joe Kaye
Introduction to the 2:13 Devotional
Why “2:13”?
Because my favorite verse in the Bible is Philippians 2:13: “For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.”
This verse can be seen as a summary of many aspects of Christian theology, and also serves as an excellent philosophy of ministry.
God – He is the center and source of all that this verse describes.
worketh in you– The tense for the word “worketh” is active and present. God is working in you right now!
both – The work of God is thorough and complete.
to will – God is working to change my desires.
to do – God is working to give me spiritual and physical strength to serve Him.
of his good pleasure – All of this is meant to serve Him. Though we will certainly benefit from His work in us, there is a higher purpose to it all – the glory of God and the furtherance of His objectives.
I pray that these devotionals will be used of God to encourage, strengthen and embolden you in your walk with Jesus.
Love you all,
Joe Kaye
