At one time in your life, dear Christian, you were at war with God. You probably didn’t even know it. The people of the world wander in their sin, knowing nothing of the wrath stored up against them (Colossians 3:5-6).

 

But God in His great mercy allowed you to understand the full Gospel message, and turn to Christ for salvation (Ephesians 2:4-5). This ended the war, for there was no longer a controversy between you and God.

 

It is good for the soul to periodically remind ourselves of all of this. It gives us a greater appreciation of the love of God and of our new state in Jesus Christ.
